The NYUAD Art Gallery is proud to launch the new series Career Conversations to invite university students and young professionals to learn about the vast opportunities in the field of the Fine Arts. This first segment will focus on the museum field which offers a number of opportunities.


About Manal Ataya

Manal Ataya is a museum specialist with 13 years of experience in museum development and cultural diplomacy.

As Director-General of the Sharjah Museums Authority she is responsible for the overall management of 16 museums and strategic development of future museum projects as per the directives of HH Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi (Ruler of Sharjah).

The current museum offering covers Islamic culture and history, contemporary art, heritage, maritime history, archaeology, science and children’s learning.

Manal Ataya is a graduate of both Hamilton College and Harvard University, USA. She has completed two distinguished international fellowships in leadership, making her a Clore fellow (2010) and Aspen Institute fellow (2017) respectively. She currently serves on numerous advisory boards including the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences-University of Sharjah, Supreme Committee for the Unesco File of Sharjah, GCDN advisory board and as founding advisory board member of ICCROM-ATHAR, the regional center for cultural heritage preservation in the Arab region.
