Opening Reception
Salted Edges: #islandparadise
Janet Bellotto
Join us for the opening of Salted Edges: #islandparadise, at The Project Space. Artist Janet Bellotto has spent over a decade studying islands as both geography and metaphor.
Salted Edges: #islandparadise explores the edge between land and sea. It is an overview of research and studio processes that includes a selection of artworks derived from navigating two islands: Sable Island, Canada, and Sir Bani Yas, United Arab Emirates.
In this exhibition, the islands act as a microcosm of the world, whereas water, as is often the case in Belotto’s work, is both memory and metaphor, as ungraspable as the future that threatens to submerge us.
