An Archaeologist in the Middle of an Earthquake
Please join us for the fourth in the new NYUAD Art Gallery series CURATORS TALK. Through his projects in archives, universities, exhibitions and biennales, Sabih Ahmed will present his approach to curating and its critical agency within and beyond institutions. The talk argues for considering curatorial practice against its museological and archival lineages, inviting new forms of intelligibility.

About the speaker
Sabih Ahmed is the Director of Ishara Art Foundation in Dubai. His curatorial work and research move between exhibitions, archives, pedagogy and theorization. Prior to Ishara, Ahmed was a Senior Researcher and Projects Manager at Asia Art Archive, a visiting faculty at the Ambedkar University Delhi, and involved in several curatorial projects that include being a curatorial collegiate member of the 11th Shanghai Biennale curated by Raqs Media Collective. He has led projects around the digitization of artist archives, creation of multi-lingual bibliographies of art, and has organized colloquia and seminars around educational resources. He serves on the Advisory Board of the Sher-Gil Sundaram Arts Foundation in Delhi. His writings have been featured in a number publications and journals. He is the co-author of the book Mass Traffic with Lantian Xie, published by Kunsthalle Bern and Mousse Publishing in 2023.
