The Words of Migration: Language, sounds, and literary narratives
Moderated by Laure Assaf
This conversation will bring together writer and NYUAD Professor Deepak Unnikrishnan; writer Bhoomika Ghaghada; theater director Juan Gonzales; and Being Borrowed artist Aya Bendary. We will address the words associated with Gulf migration in various languages and the meanings they carry; what it means to write or produce art, and the linguistic choices involved; and the hierarchies and hybridities that emerge from the plurilingual contexts of Gulf cities.
